'SO, WHAT DO WE DO NOW?'
I've spent… a lot of time thinking about Jurassic World over the past few years. More than I care to admit, honestly, given my less-than-positive feelings about it.
need desire to write about that film was, in fact, the catalyst for the website I was working with at the time to expand its focus beyond video games, leading — eventually… — to The JHN Files itself.
With my last few posts, I've delved into my feelings on the Jurassic Park films. On Friday, things wrapped up with my thoughts on Jurassic Park III. It would seem only natural, then, that I should follow those posts up with my thoughts on Jurassic World — which is precisely what I plan to do.
The difference here, though, is that I've already written extensively about Jurassic World; putting together something new would, therefore, be pointless, recursive. It would bring nothing new to the table — so, rather than doing that, I'm going to go back to two of the articles I've already written about it.
The first — Life Lost Its Way: The Great Jurassic World Disappointment — was written in October 2015, after I'd taken a fair bit of time to mull over my thoughts on the film, and just in time to coincide with its release on home media. It's an overwhelmingly negative piece, speaking to the crushing disappointment I felt at the time, and dealing almost exclusively with the faults of the film.
The second article — Sunrise O'er Jurassic World: Looking on the Bright Side — was written almost a year later, and was an attempt to balance The Great Jurassic World Disappointment, to address the fact that (shocking though it may seem) I didn't entirely hate everything about Jurassic World.
I've spoken so much about Jurassic World… I'm more than ready to move on. With any luck, I'll be able to do so sooner rather than later.
